In a single wide bed, the plants at the back spend the second half of the summer in the shadow of whatever grew tallest at the front.
Step the rows instead
Three troughs climb a staircase to 32 inches. Each one sits above and behind the last, so all three rows face the light.
The frame is solid wood with thickened A shaped legs screwed into crossbars. Each trough carries a non woven liner fixed with tacks, two drain holes and its own soil, and a slatted shelf spans the back of the frame.

Liners and thirty tacks
