A tree instead of a tree

The maker pitches this as an alternative to a real Christmas tree, and in a house with cats that argument makes itself. A fir that a cat is supposed to climb into is a good deal less trouble than one it is supposed to leave alone for three weeks.

Rated tier by tier

Forty eight and a half inches overall on a round base 22 across, tiers of 11.5, 17.5 and 23 inches, an opening around 8.5 by 7, and two load figures: 33 lbs for the upper condo and 66 for the lower. Two numbers rather than one tells you which cat belongs where.

Big cat below, small cat above

The maker matches the two condos to cat sizes, which follows directly from the load figures rather than being a slogan. In a household with one large cat and one small, the tower allocates itself within a day and nobody has to intervene.

The whole cover lifts off

The plush cover comes away from the frame for washing. Pale pink shows more than green does, so on this colourway that detail is doing more work: a cover that washes is what keeps it looking like a decoration rather than a well used cat bed.

Tipped white at the branch edges.

For medium and large breeds.

For small and medium breeds.

The trunk under the lower condo.

Inside both condos.

Comes off the frame to wash.

Fitted at the very top.

Hung around the branches.

Blush pink with white frosting is a decision rather than a neutral. It will be the object people comment on, in December and in June.

Two condos rated for different weights means the large cat and the small one each have a level intended for them rather than competing for one.

A pale cover that comes off the frame is the only sensible way to keep a pink cat tree looking pink past the first month.

How tall is it?

48.5 inches, on a round base 22 inches across.

How much will each condo hold?

The manufacturer publishes 66 lbs for the lower condo and 33 lbs for the upper.

How thick is the scratching post?

7 inches, wrapped in jute rope.

Can the cover be washed?

Yes, the manufacturer describes it as removable and washable.

How heavy is it?

The manufacturer publishes a net weight of 28.66 lbs.

Why does the written description mention green plush?

The store's copy for this pink colourway repeats the green version's wording. The photographs and the dimension panel both show pink, and the colour field lists both.
