A normal nightstand gives you one drawer and a surface at mattress height. This one goes up instead of out. It is 18 inches wide and 56 inches tall, with a charging shelf partway up, so the phone charges at eye level rather than on the floor beside the bed.
Tall where a nightstand is short
At 56 inches it reaches well above the mattress, so the lamp, the books and the glasses each get a level of their own. The footprint is 18 by 14 inches, which is less floor than most bedside tables take.

A cabinet under the shelves
The bottom section closes behind a door with a magnetic catch and metal hinges. The shelf inside sets to three heights or lifts out, which is how a stack of folded jumpers or a tall box ends up fitting.
