Desktop Bookshelf with Open Back Compartment
A shelf unit that stands on the desk and bridges over your monitor instead of fighting it for space.
Desks run out of surface long before they run out of use. This frame stands on the desktop and arches over the middle, so the monitor sits in the open bay and every inch above and beside it turns into shelving. The bay is 24.5 inches across and 24 inches tall.
The monitor keeps its place
The open back bay takes a screen up to 27 inches. Nothing presses against the back of it and the cables drop straight through, so you gain three upper shelves and two side columns without moving the display.
Homework on one surface
In a child's room the desk is also the art table and the Lego base. Keeping books and pens up on the shelves leaves the desk clear for the thing they are actually doing.
Ten inches of desk given up
Depth is 10 inches, so it takes a strip along the back of the desk and leaves the rest. Each shelf has a baffle along the edge, which stops a book sliding off the back onto the floor behind the desk.
