This listing is called a 24 inch counter height barstool. It is not one. Ordering on the title would put a stool almost five inches too tall under a standard kitchen counter, with nowhere for your knees to go.

The manufacturer's own drawing measures the seat at 29 in, the stool at 43 in and prints the words suitable for 40 to 43 inch bar heights. Measure your bar, not the title.

Bar height, measured

The seat measures 29 in and the stool 43 in overall. Against a 40 in to 43 in bar that leaves 11 in to 14 in of knee room. Under a 36 in kitchen counter there would be nowhere to put your legs.

Every number in one place

Forty three inches to the top of the back, 29 in to the seat, 12 in to the footrest. The base spreads 20.5 in by 19 in, which is what a stool this tall needs under it.

Three joints and a bearing

The seat turns on a bearing plate. Under it, triangular fasteners tie the frame corners and the crossbars are doubled. On a tall stool those joints take the twisting load every time someone spins round.

What we stand behind

• The 29 in seat height, the 43 in overall height and the 12 in footrest come from this listing's own drawing, which also prints the intended bar height.
• The product title says 24 inch counter height while the option name says 29 inches. The drawing measures 29 in and marks the stool for a 40 in to 43 in bar. The title is wrong and this page corrects it.
• The 330 lb rating is the manufacturer's stated maximum load, from a rig test.
• The seat is described as a stack of linen fabric, high density sponge, engineered wood and a non woven backing.
• Ships from our United States warehouse, free shipping over $150, and 14 day returns unused in the original packaging.

Is this a counter stool or a bar stool?

A bar stool. The drawing measures the seat at 29 in and marks it for 40 in to 43 in bar tops. The words 24 inch counter height in the title do not describe this product.

Will it fit a 36 inch kitchen island?

No. A 29 in seat under a 36 in counter leaves about 7 in of knee room, which is not usable. That height wants a 24 in to 26 in seat.

What is under the seat fabric?

The maker lists linen fabric, high density sponge, engineered wood and a non woven backing, in that order.

How do I clean a linen seat?

Vacuum it and blot spills quickly with a barely damp cloth. No cleaning code is published, so test a hidden area first.
