With the lid on

Daytime on a terrace, the fire pit closed under its ceramic tile lid and doing duty as a dining surface. This is how the set spends most of a summer. The low coffee table in front holds the drinks and the storage box in the corner takes the rest.

Measure before you order

Every piece drawn with its figures. Corner sofas are 29.5 in square, armless sofas 27 in by 28 in, the coffee table 39.5 in by 20 in, ottomans 17.5 in square and the storage box 29.5 in by 33.5 in. The fire pit table is 42 in long and 25 in high with a 23 in burner channel.

The parts you never look at

A close read of the build: tempered glass on the storage box top, all weather PE rattan over a rustproof steel frame, a moulded handle cut into the box side, and anti slip pads under the feet. None of this shows in a room photo, and all of it decides how the set looks in year three.

A 29.5 in by 33.5 in box that takes cushions inside and drinks on the tempered glass lid. It is the side table and the cushion store at once.

Rope buckles button the 4 in cushions down so they do not slide off when someone puts their feet up.

Two waterproof covers are in the box. Most sets this size leave you to source those yourself in October.

Every cover comes off with a zip and goes in the wash. Seat pads are 4 in thick and the back cushions 7 in.

Each foot turns slightly to level the piece and sits on an anti slip mat, which matters on old flagstone or a sloped deck.

Will cream cushions stay cream?

No fade or stain rating is published, so we will not promise one. The practical answer is that the covers unzip and wash, which is the only reason a pale outdoor cushion is worth owning. Sunscreen and barbecue smoke are what usually mark them, and both come out easier from a cover you can take off.

How does the propane connect?

The manufacturer's setup panel shows four steps: attach the regulator to the tank, stand the tank inside the fire pit table body, add lava rock over the burner, then turn the knob and press the igniter. The tank is hidden inside the table rather than sitting beside it. No tank is listed as included, so plan on supplying your own.

What happens to it over winter?

This set is built to be put away. The manufacturer's own storage sequence has the cushions going into the ottomans and the storage box, the two armless sofas sliding into the corner sofas, the glass top laid across them, the coffee table and ottomans stacked upside down on top, and one of the two waterproof covers over the lot. That leaves a 93 in by 29.5 in by 26 in block.

How much patio does it need?

Set out as an L, the seating runs roughly 29.5 in deep on each arm with the fire pit table 42 in long in front of it. Layout guides suggest about 24 in between a sofa and the table in front of it and 18 to 24 in between seating and a fire feature, so allow a good 12 ft by 12 ft to lay it out comfortably.
