10 ft 360 Degree Tilt Aluminum Square Patio Offset Cantilever Umbrella without Weight Base-Burgundy
Strong colours are the first thing a summer of sun takes away. This burgundy canopy is 240 gsm yarn-dyed fabric, with the colour in the yarn rather than printed on, rated fade resistant by the manufacturer. It spans 10 feet square on eight steel ribs, tilts through seven positions, turns a full circle on a pedal and sits 7.5 feet up at the edge.
Bright red in June, pink by August
Printed canopies fade fast
Cheap canopies are printed on the surface. A couple of months of strong sun and a deep red turns pale and blotchy where the light hits hardest.
Dye that goes all the way through
This canopy is yarn-dyed, so the colour is in the fibre itself, and it is a heavier 240 gsm cloth. The manufacturer rates it fade resistant. Closing it when you are not using it helps any fabric last.

Colour against a green view
Over a terrace table the burgundy reads rich rather than loud. The square canopy covers the whole table and every chair, with the post standing clear at the side. Clearance is 7.5 feet at the edge.
Tilted all the way over
This is the canopy at its steepest tilt, the setting you want against a sun sitting just above the fence. The caption is worth reading: the cross base is included, the weights are not.

Swinging the shade round
Step on the pedal, turn the pole and the canopy moves round to another part of the patio. The loaded base does not shift. A full circle is available, not just a few degrees, so the same canopy can cover the loungers at noon and the table at dinner.
Seven positions, one handle
Seven stepped canopies, one for each tilt position on the pole. The crank handle both opens the canopy and sets the tilt, so everything is done from chest height.

What you get
Aluminum pole, steel ribs
A thick powder-coated aluminum pole carries eight steel ribs, so the frame resists rust and the canopy keeps its shape.
360 degrees on a pedal
Step on the pedal at the base and turn the pole. The canopy swings right round while the base stays put.
Seven tilt positions
The arm steps down the post through seven vertical positions, so the canopy can drop into low sun.
Crank lift
The same handle that sets the tilt winds the canopy open and shut, at chest height.
240 gsm yarn-dyed fabric
The colour is in the yarn rather than printed on, which is why the manufacturer calls it fade resistant.
Screwed-on canopy
The fabric is fixed to the frame with screws, so it cannot creep off the rib tips in a gust.
Vented top
A vent at the crown lets air escape upward instead of pushing on the whole canopy.
Cross base in the box
The cross base ships with it. The weights that sit on it are a separate purchase.

Who is this perfect for?
Rectangular dining sets
Square corners reach the end chairs that a round canopy of the same width leaves in the sun, and nothing rises through the middle of the table top.
Pool decks
It stands on its own cross base, so the shade can go over loungers where no table exists to hold a pole. Keep the post back from the water and on level ground.
West facing patios
Seven tilt steps plus a full circle of rotation are what you need when the worst sun of the day arrives at six, low and straight into your eyes.

Frequently asked questions
Will the colour fade?
Every fabric fades eventually. This one is 240 gsm and yarn-dyed, which the manufacturer rates as fade resistant, and that is a better starting point than a surface-printed canopy. Closing it when not in use and storing it dry over winter both help. No UPF figure is published.
How much does it shade and how high is it?
Ten feet by ten feet, a hundred square feet with corners, enough for a six to eight seat table. The canopy edge is 7.5 feet up and the pole 9 feet, on a 40 inch base footprint.
Does it come with a weighted base?
No. The cross base is included and the weights that sit on it are not. No base weight is published for this model, so we are not going to invent one. A cantilever hangs its whole canopy off one side of the post, so load it more heavily than you would a centre-pole umbrella of the same width and close it when the wind picks up.
How should it be stored over winter?
Crank it closed, wrap the hook and loop strap round the canopy, let the fabric dry right through and store it dry. Canadian care guides agree the two things that finish an umbrella early are snow load on an open canopy and fabric folded away damp.
